Arguably the most unique aspect to the art of filmmaking is editing. The juxtaposition of images, creating implicit links between shots that may be entirely unrelated during production, is unlike any other artform in any other media.

Editing can help shape the context of an image as well as imbue it with inherent value in and of itself. It can set a tone, pace and even a whole narrative independent of the original idea behind the images during the shoot.
